Scottdale School of Ballet Students Helping Houston Dancers

It is hard for many of us to imagine what it must be like for those impacted by the recent hurricanes. Sadly, many families are facing a devastating reality and may not have access to the help they need to cope and heal. Many are children and we would like to help in some way. One of our Scottsdale School of Ballet students, Elina Ferrigno, had the idea of a donation drive for new or gently used ballet clothes & ballet shoes to assist the many dancers in the Houston area who lost everything. These students would like to get back to some normalcy, like ballet classes, but their ballet things were lost in the aftermath of the Hurricane and their families have more pressing priorities like dealing with their flooded homes. Elina and her classmates of the Scottsdale School of Ballet Intermediate Level have agreed to help organize the drive for an organization–Dance Source Houston–which has been compiling the needs of more than a dozen local Houston dance studios who are in need post the hurricane and floods. Their primary needs are new or gently used:

ballet leotards (black especially)
pink tights,
new or gently used ballet shoes.

Please consider donating your excess ballet and dance attire, and drop it by our studio at:

Scottsdale School of Ballet
14455 N. 79th Street Suite C
Scottsdale, AZ 85260

For those of you who recently donated items to SSB, we will include them in this drive. Donation boxes will be in the lobby area of Scottsdale School of Ballet this week and next. If you have any questions, please call the studio at 480-948-8202 or email our student contact, Elina’s mother at (gcpalmisano@yahoo.com) who will help organize and ship the donations to Houston.

We as well as our students and the students in Houston thank you for your kindness and generosity.
