Joan Rodriguez – Hernandez
Joan Rodriguez – Hernandez was born in Havana, Cuba and started his dancing career in the streets and in children’s companies in Havana. He was enrolled and graduated as a dancer and teacher from the National School of Art in Cuba in 2011.
After graduation, he danced professionally with Danza Abierta Company for three years and in 2013, Joan accepted a position with the Malpaso Dance Company in Havana. Here he worked under the tutelage Osnel Delgado, resident choreographer and artistic director of company.
He has since had the opportunity to dance at the Joyce Theater and Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts and has also worked with choreographers such as Trey McIntyre and Ron K Brown and many others.
In April 2016, Joan decided to make a major life change and moved to the United States. He has been working with Convergence Ballet Company, CONDER/dance and joined Stilo Dance Company as artistic director and choreographer. Scottsdale School of Ballet is honored to have him on faculty of or school.
